iWarriors West Coast Golf Event Raises $17,500 for Veterans

The 2024 iWarriors Annual West Coast Golf Outing, hosted by M.R. Mold & Engineering, raised $17,500 for wounded combat veterans despite inclement weather, featuring heartfelt testimonials and gratitude towards sponsors, highlighting the impact of the iWarriors initiative.

The 2024 iWarriors Annual West Coast Golf Outing, hosted by M.R. Mold & Engineering, took place on February 9th, 2024, following the Plastec West / MD&M exhibition in Anaheim. Despite challenges posed by inclement weather leading up to the event, including an atmospheric river rain system, the outing at the Navy Golf Course at Seal Beach was a resounding success. The event raised $17,500 to support wounded combat veterans.

Rick Finnie, President of M.R. Mold, commented, "Everyone expected sunny California weather for golfing in February, but Mother Nature had other plans. The rain threatened to cancel the event, but thanks to the committee's efforts to reconfigure the activities, we were able to proceed, and everyone had a great time."

The iWarriors initiative, a registered 501C-3 entity organized by Progressive Components, raises funds throughout the year to provide wounded veterans with personally engraved tablets. These tablets come preloaded with neural exercise apps for those suffering from PTSD, as well as links to V.A. resources for communication, scheduling and counseling.

The event was particularly meaningful as USMC Carlos Murillo was present to receive his tablet. He shared his experience overseas, which earned him two Purple Hearts, and expressed how the gift will significantly benefit him. He thanked all the organizers, participants and sponsors for their support.

Mold, Mastip, MedASia, MoldMaking Technology, Peterson’s Media Group, Prestige Mold, Progressive Components, Reaction Plastics Solutions, S&D Tool, Shin-Estu, United Tool & Mold, UPS Mold, Vincent Tool, VIP Rubber, Westminster Tool and Wisconsin Engraving.

This was the 2nd annual West Coast event, joining an annual golf outing organized each September in northern Illinois by Alliance Specialties and Laser Sales, as well as an outing each October in South Carolina hosted by United Tool & Mold.

To build upon the success of this event for future iWarriors initiatives, Progressive Components Don Starkey, says, “Providing tablets to give each recipient access to their world is what we do, and will continue to do! The majority of funds will continue to be raised by the industry-supported golf outings, but businesses can also support the cause via Corporate Sponsorships.”
